Our series of "Dan Furey Sundays" continues on Sunday, March 12 from 2:00 - 4:30 pm at Kieran Jordan Dance. This time, we welcome guests artists Annette Collins and Mark Prescott from County Armagh in Northern Ireland. Annette will teach old-style step dances from her repertoire, with live music from Mark on the fiddle (from 2-3:30 pm), and we'll follow that with our regular social hour of dancing through the Dan Furey steps, as taught to us previously by Michael Tubridy (3:30 - 4:30 pm). The cost of this special workshop is $20 per person. Step dance experience is required. Please bring soft shoes and/or a versatile old-style step dance shoe.
Annette Collins is an experienced and active step dance performer and teacher based in Co. Armagh, Northern Ireland, working primarily in Ireland and mainland Europe. Annette has a passion for old style steps, learning her craft from Patrick O'Dea, Michael Tubridy, Joe McGuiggan, Brenda O'Callaghan among others. She is a member of the Dan Furey Group and the Northern Irish dance group convened by Joe McGuiggan.
Annette's enthusiasm for dance was triggered as an adult and her appetite for learning burns brightly. She believes that lifelong learning in any discipline is essential. Her workshops are characterised by her creation of a supportive and professional environment, with live music from her partner Mark Prescott, and by her consistently inclusive and engaging style.
